Engine replacement

It is possible to replace your vehicle's engine if it is damaged and the engine or some of its parts are no longer available. When the manufacturer no longer exists, the competent regional authority must certify this change. 

The rules to be observed in the event of an engine replacement are as follows:

• The type of fuel must remain the same
• The number of cylinders must remain the same
• The method of supply must remain the same (carburettor, injection, etc.)
• The addition of a turbo and/or a supercharger is prohibited if they were not present in the original engine
• A change in engine size and/or power is acceptable within the following tolerances
• Engine size tolerance:
  • upper limit: original engine size x 1.2 (or maximum +20%)
  • lower limit: no limit
• Power tolerance:
  • upper limit: original power x 1.2 (or maximum +20%)
  • lower limit: no limit
